Bag Weight Limits
Each Totem bag is engineered to carry a specific maximum weight.1 Exceeding these limits causes damage to zippers, stitching, and handles which is not covered by warranty. Please check the table below for your specific model.
1. Maximum Weight Allowance
Please find your bag model in the table below. Note that "Savvy" and "Totem" are listed separately.
| Brand | Model / Collection | Max Weight Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Totem | T-Roll (Trolley) | 8kg (Lift) / 15kg (Roll)* |
| Totem | Hardbody / Style | 10kg |
| Totem | Amigo / Craze / Deluxe | 8kg |
| Totem | London | 8kg |
| Savvy | Galaxy | 10kg |
| Savvy | Easyride | 8kg |
| Savvy | Daypack | 7kg |
2. Important: The T-Roll Rule (Lift vs. Roll)
The Totem T-Roll has two different weight limits. This is critical for the longevity of the handle.
Rolling Limit (15kg): When the bag is on the ground and being pulled by the telescopic handle, it can hold up to 15kg because the wheels support the weight.
Lifting Limit (8kg): If you need to lift the bag (e.g., into a car boot or up stairs), you must not exceed 8kg. Lifting a 15kg load by the handle puts excessive strain on the mechanism and may cause it to snap.
3. Health & Safety (The 10-15% Rule)
Just because a bag can hold 10kg, doesn't mean your child should carry 10kg.
Ergonomic Advice: Pediatricians recommend that a child should not carry more than 10-15% of their body weight.
Example: If your child weighs 30kg, their packed bag should not exceed 3kg - 4.5kg.
Warning: Regularly overloading the bag strains the zippers and seams, but more importantly, it strains your child's spine.
